Bongiorno! I am sitting in my little kitchen after finally having our wireless hooked up. Apparently our fans from the maintenance guy won't be here for a FEW DAYS so until then it is sticky and hot.
Today we accomplished quite a bit, I think. We ran some errands around town, walked to studio to see how long it takes from our building (30 minutes), decided we should take the tram to class instead (once class starts), purchased italian cell phones, mailed our post cards (and got stamps), found out the status of some of our bags that had been shipped (hopefully mine won't get stuck in customs), found a new computer cord for Liz (hers had melted? or ripped or something weird), purchased a hair straightener and blow dryer for us all to use (my straightener crapped out finally sometime in paris), and um... got some good pizza.
Speaking of which! I wonder about these European waiters and cashiers sometimes...it may be coincidental but it seems like they think they can screw over Americans or charge them for something extra because they think we won't catch it or won't know how to fix it (i.e. surprise lasagna or 5 euro "coke zeros"). There have been a number of times we have thought we were overcharged, or had an order messed up. Often it's small enough to just be like whatever. Today at lunch for example, Liz and I both ordered the Margherita pizza. Our waiter arrived with one for us to share, while Sarah and Lindsay both got the pizza they ordered. It was fine because it was pretty big so whatever. But then the check came and they had charged us for 2 Margherita pizzas and we had to convince the waiter that one empty plate next to a pizza did not cost 6 euro. We got the problem solved, but still it's kindof frustrating.
Last night, we walked around Rome a bit and saw the Pantheon and such. We were able to hang out with our other friend Sarah who will be studying in Florence this semester. She was in Rome for the night. Dani is also studying in Florence and I am so excited to see her! When we said goodbye in Milwaukee it was so weird to say..."See you in Italy." We have a lot more of Rome to see but we have 3 and a half months to see it in. I'm excited. We have a meeting for orientation tomorrow so that should be interesting. Until then....ciao!
